Our Forever

We met sophomore year at UMass Amherst, when we happened to live in the same dorm building.

Over the summer and into the following year, our friendship grew through classes, nights out, and all the little moments in between. Then one night after a party, Mike bought Monica a footlong meatball sub from Subway (her regular) and that was pretty much game over.

Not long after, Monica moved to Spain for the semester. Two weeks into studying abroad, on January 23, 2018, Mike made it official over FaceTime. After two months of FaceTime dates, Mike visited Monica in Barcelona for spring break, where they had their first official date in person.

Two years later, we moved into our first place together, and in 2021, we brought home Georgia, the light of our lives.

To celebrate our eight-year anniversary, we traveled to Iceland, one of our favorite places we’ve ever been together. On January 19, 2026, after an early morning drive to Diamond Beach on the south coast, Mike proposed just after sunrise. We spent the rest of the day hiking to waterfalls and glaciers, then ended the night with an overpriced bottle of champagne and the northern lights. Truly worth the wait.
